Chess Patterns Icon Set

Licence version 2.0 — effective 9 September 2026.

Free Use in Public Content

The chess-pattern icons featured on this page may be used freely in any content that is publicly accessible without payment or registration, provided the required credit line is included. All other uses require a written licence to ensure that Bluedrop, the Italian company that created and owns the artwork, can properly protect and grow the collection.

You are welcome to reproduce the icons, unmodified, in content such as:

- public videos (YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo)
- live streams (Twitch, Kick, YouTube Live)
- public posts on Instagram, X, Bluesky, Facebook, Threads
- open-access web pages or blogs
- free-subscription newsletters

Advertising is fine. Content that carries ads, sponsorships or affiliate links still counts as publicly accessible, as long as your audience can see it without paying or registering. We draw the line at what your audience has to do to reach the content, not at whether you earn from it.

Uses Requiring Prior Agreement

The free licence above covers published content only. Anything else needs a separate written agreement. This applies to, but is not limited to:

* Paid newsletters or subscription websites
* Paid online courses or private coaching materials
* Print or digital books, paid study guides, or magazines
* Merchandise such as clothing, posters, or physical teaching aids
* Software of any kind — mobile or desktop apps, games, browser extensions, plugins, bots, overlays distributed as software, interactive websites, or online tools
* Any other use where access is subject to a fee, one-time purchase, or that restricts full access

Please note: if the icons form part of a piece of software or an interactive tool, a written agreement is required even if that software is free to use. The free licence covers content people watch or read, not products people run.

Ownership and General Conditions

All chess concept icons displayed in this page are original artworks created and owned by Bluedrop Solutions (IT02350390304) ("Bluedrop"), an Italian company. They are protected by international copyright law; all rights are reserved unless expressly granted in this licence.

- Icons may be resized but not recolored, cropped or remixed without written consent.
- You may not claim authorship, sell the icons, or register them as trademarks.
- You may not redistribute the icon files themselves — as a set, library, template pack or download — even for free.
- This licence is personal to you. It may not be transferred or sublicensed; anyone else who wants to use the icons needs their own licence under these terms.
- This licence is non-exclusive. Bluedrop remains free to use the icons for any purpose and to grant other parties rights on different or exclusive terms.
- Using the icons does not mean Bluedrop endorses, sponsors or is affiliated with your content, and you may not state or imply that it does.
- This licence terminates automatically if its terms are breached.
- These icons may not be used for training artificial intelligence models, machine learning datasets, or similar automated systems without explicit written permission.
- Governing law: Italian law; disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Udine, Italy.

Changes to This Licence

We may update or withdraw this licence at any time. Any change takes effect from the date it is published on this page and applies only to uses made after that date: anything you published in compliance with an earlier version stays licensed under that version, for that use. The version number and date at the top of this page always identify the terms currently in force.
