Pawn Blockade
You create a Pawn Blockade when you place one of your pieces directly in front of an opponent's pawn to prevent it from advancing. Knights are the best blockaders (see the first diagram above) because, being able to jump over other pieces, they are not restricted by the pawn.
An opponent's Blockade can be a weakness if it ties down a valuable piece that may be needed elsewhere on the board. Also, when the blockading piece is a Rook or a Queen, it may greatly reduce its mobility (as shown in the second diagram above).
