Double Attack
Double Attack
A Double Attack is a tactic in which a single move generates two or more threats simultaneously. These threats can originate from one or more pieces. This differs from the Fork tactic, where only one piece is responsible for all the threats. In the diagram above, White can play 1.Qg5 and simultaneously threaten 2.Qxg7# (checkmate) and 2.Ne7+ (a powerful fork). Black can parry only one of the two threats.
When delivering a Double Attack: (1) Be mindful of counterattacks or defensive measures. Against a Double Attack: (1) Create a counterattack that gives you time to solve both threats.
