Non-Isolated Doubled Pawns

In some positions, Doubled Pawns (non-isolated ones) can be a weakness because these pawns have reduced mobility, can become easy targets, and are often ineffective at creating a passed pawn (as seen in first the diagram above).

In other positions, this type of pawn structure can be an advantage because it often creates open files for the Rooks (as seen in the second diagram above) and helps control important squares.
