Promising Knight Squares
You have Promising Knight Squares when the landing squares of your Knight allow it to fork your opponent's pieces or other important squares. It is a signal of tactical possibilities. In the diagram, White wins material by using one of the g5-Knight Squares to fork Black's King and Rook.
Ideas for when you spot Promising Knight Squares: (1) Look for tactics that exploit weak squares or exposed pieces that are at forking distance, (2) Don't rush: double-check your calculations, (3) Be aware of possible counter-play. Ideas against an opponent's Promising Knight Squares: (1) Try to prevent tactics that exploit any weak squares or exposed pieces that are at forking distance.
